EXAMPLE 4, EMPLOYMENT

Try finding a stable job or career without a permanent residential address when you are a victim of a Workers’ Compensation claim at no fault of your own especially, as was my case. In fact, my most recent employer made working for him more difficult after I told him that my illness was due to a Worker’s Compensation claim. He did not fire me, but his wife began scheduling me more days in the further office than the closer office, making me extremely exhausted to function when I worked in the closer office. When I requested to not be scheduled to work at the farther office anymore due to health reasons, his wife, who did the scheduling, stated that the closer office schedule was full, so I requested to be placed on call until they were able to put me back on the schedule I was hired to work. My boss asked for the keys back and stated that he would be calling me in the next few weeks, actually on a specific day. The tax season finished without him ever calling me back.

Granted and let’s understand well that with all the other issues involved in this case – the job description and the definite hours I was hired to work for example, I definitely have an ADA violation case, but I’m not about that. When he told me on the phone when he hired me that he and his wife loved the Lord and were devout Christians, I knew right away that I could not expect an outcome with integrity – nothing against Christianity, but against any type of person who proclaims to love the Lord without the action to prove it. They took me off the schedule all together for the whole tax season, actually violating his contract with me.

Few employers, I found out, will hire a homeless person, especially if – as in my case – an employer via something that turns into a Workers’ Compensation claim has victimized you, and truly I do not enjoy playing victim when it comes to my well being. Once again this overlaps the subject of discrimination, but, being homeless, I could not afford justice. There are many forms of justice that on $375 a month I cannot afford, so I just have to suffer and lose hope in the justice system until the impoverished are no longer INVISIBLE CONSTITUENTS. In the case of my most recent employer, his violation of ADA and labor laws will eventually cost him his business by virtue of this ministry with or without a lawsuit which I can now afford.
